Welcome to Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association

It was a gleeful noon at Queens Park Hall, Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos as the Lagos Branch of Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association under the chairmanship of Edward Akerele (1971) held her 2019 Annual Luncheon & Merits Award Ceremony on Sunday, 23rd June, 2019.

The epochal event was chaired by Adetokunbo Fabanwo, a member of 1966 Set of the school, and professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), Ikeja and Chief Medical Director of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, (LASUTH), Ikeja, Lagos. The Stars of Honour of the event were Oyebisi Ilaka (1973 � September) � the newly appointed Chief of Staff of Oyo State, Mobolaji Ayorinde (1974) OFR (SAN) � former Oyo State gubernatorial aspirant; and Tolu Odebiyi (1975) � the newly elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, from Ogun West in Ogun State.

Members of the Branch, alongside their Young Girls as well as their invited guests converged in an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie to wine and dine, relate freely with former colleagues, teurs and boys, and build personal and business networks among one another.

The Branch, according to her usual practice honoured 5 of her members with Award of Merit. Leading the roll of honour was Bunmi Oni, MON � a member of 1965 Set of GCI, an accomplished Administrator and internationally accredited Mediator, and former President of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria. Also, the pioneer director of Gateway Tourism Corporation, Abeokuta; Kayode Odutayo of the 1967 Set was added to the Roll of Honour in recognition of his enormous contributions to the field of Tourism.

Olanrewaju Tejumola of the 1970 Set, a professional artist, avid reader and experienced editor; and Olawale Ajomale of the 1971 Set, a proud Grierson, Engineer per excellence and Public Affairs Analyst were added to the Roll of Honour of the Branch

The last but not the least on the honours� list was Jide Adedeji of the 1972 Set� an Agropreneur, Researcher, Innovator and internationally acclaimed Food Scientist.

The Honourees were decorated by the Stars of Honour, as well as the GCIOBA National President, Wale Babalakin (1971) (SAN).

The Vice � Chairman of the Branch, Gbola Akinola (1972) was the Chairman of the 13-man Luncheon Planning Committee, and the event had over 500 Old Boys, Young Girls and guests in attendance.
